Reiki is a life practice and effective healing therapy, founded by Mikai Usui in Japan in the 1920's. 'Reiki' translates as 'Universal Energy' or 'life force'.
Anne and Paul Thomas are qualified practitioners and teachers of Reiki, offering personal development and practitioner training, as well as healing treatment sessions.
Energy moves within and around our bodies, flowing through and connecting all living things at all times.
A Reiki practitioner trains to be the 'hollow reed' through which this life force may flow, to help heal the body and bring peace of mind. In practice, opening to Reiki is an opportunity to receive the boundless life force of the universe. Our bodies are miracles of regeneration, if the energy is allowed to flow.

We offer Reiki in the form of self development and practioner training as well as healing treatment sessions.

Reiki Treatment Sessions
During a treatment, the recipient usually experiences deep levels of peaceful relaxation, which may afterwards lead to a feeling of rejuvenation. A series of treatments can be helpful for:

Studying Reiki

Could Reiki fulfill your need to find balance in body and mind? I would say that yes it definitely has the potential to help.
The practice of Reiki opens you to the universal life force that connects all living things, and most importantly, to the deeper, constant part of yourself that remains unchanged through the storms of life's challenges.
We cannot control when and how the challenges of life will occur, but we can learn ways to strengthen ourselves, protect ourselves and re-balance when they do. The more we practice being in our centre, the easier it gets to find our way back.
I work with many life practices that can assist with this. Reiki is one of them. Yoga offers a more physical way to work with the life force. Mandala painting offers a visual pathway. Chanting and the resonance of sound provide a powerful way to connect. Ayurveda offers dietary and lifestyle advice.
For myself, Reiki links all the other practices together - in that we are focussing on the energy in it's purest most simple form.
It's a good place to start.
Reiki is taught via 'attunements' or 'empowerments', which are passed on from master to student over a period of time. There are three 'levels' of Reiki. We practice a method of teaching Reiki learned from a school of Reiki called 'Reiki Evolution'

Reiki first degree ('Shoden')
'Shoden', Reiki First Degree, is a wonderful introduction to energy awareness and gateway to applying this useful practice on a daily basis.
Taught over a two 3hr sessions, or four 1.5hr classes, this course is aimed at complete beginners, but can be relevant to anyone seeking a simple way to nurture themselves, connect to universal energy and develop mindfulness.
Students receive a course manual to study, prior to beginning the course, with audio recordings containing guided meditation practices.
The course manual is written by Taggart King of Reiki Evolution. It's a very comprehensive and useful reference resource. You will receive your manual prior to the start of the course, so that you familiarise yourself with some of the history and practice of Reiki.
The First Degree course introduces the student to:

Reiki Okuden (Second Degree)
Having begun your journey with Reiki, experienced the sense of peace, contentment and connection that Reiki can bring you, perhaps you feel ready to deepen your practice.

Reiki Okuden provides:

An introduction to specific energies, via symbols and sacred sounds

Further meditations to deepen your self-healing, focusing on these energies to bring powerful physical and emotional balancing.

Explore intuition - move beyond standard hand positions when you treat people, to embrace intuitive working, allowing the energy to guide you in terms of where you rest your hands

Practise distant healing - learn how to send Reiki long-distance in a variety of ways
Your Reiki Second Degree training course happens over two days, or via a four part course. You will also need to spend approx. six hours working through a study guide, at your leisure, in the weeks beforehand. You will receive an audio CD at the end of the weekend to use in conjunction with the manual as you integrate and process your experiences.
During the live part of your training you will focus on practical energy work, in the company of a few other students – there will be no more than four students.
This approach provides you with a complete training in Reiki at Second Degree. You can learn at your leisure, in the comfort of your own home, allowing you to learn the three Reiki symbols fully, giving a chance for all the information to sink in and helping you to realise any questions that you might have. You then arrive on the course well-prepared, so we can spend the live part of your course working with energy and putting what you have learned into practice.
Your pre-course reading and listening will focus you on these areas:
· What Reiki’s founder taught and how we can follow the original system in the modern world
· How to benefit from the energies of earth ki and heavenly ki through meditation
· The importance of experiencing a state of oneness and its use in distant healing
· How to use earth ki and heavenly ki when treating others
· How to open yourself to intuitive working
· Ways of directing the energy using intent
· The Reiki symbols: how to draw them and say their names
We will go over this information briefly on the day of the course, but most of the day will concentrate on practice rather than theory.
