Ayurveda Through the Changing Seasons
In this series of workshops, taking place over the course of a year, my intention is to share some of the very practical guidance that Ayurveda has to offer us, to inspire greater agency to choose wisely in our daily lives, to improve our well being of body, mind and spirit. Each workshop can be attended as a one off experience, or you can continue the journey through all of the seasons.
Ayurveda ('science of life') is a 5000 year old truly holistic health system indigenous to India, comprising diet, yoga, massage, detoxification, herbal remedies, meditation and daily lifestyle.
It teaches us to pay more attention to our bodies and minds, and to notice what's going on in the natural world, taking into account how the rhythms of seasons, variations in weather, light and life circumstances affect us on all levels.

The concept of Rutacharya, adapting our diet and lifestyle to the changing seasons, provides us with a framework from which to begin a wider exploration, of how we may take care of ourselves through the ever-changing landscape of our lives. We are not machines to relentlessly carry on regardless of the changing nature of life - rather we ignore the affect of change at our peril. Noticing and adapting to daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal variations not only helps us feel more alive, engaged and happy, but also guides us to make choices that are conducive to long term good health.

Each workshop will focus on the current season, and issues that tend to arise at that time of year. Overall we will explore aspects of:

-
Ayurvedic cosmology and philosophy
-
Balancing the Doshas (fundamental energies governing our health)
-
Diet and lifestyle to support our individual needs
-
The concept of Agni (digestive fire) and optimising digestive health
-
Detoxification and rejuvenation
-
Calming the nervous system
-
Strengthening immunity

To some extent the content of each workshop will also be tailored to the needs of the group and evolve accordingly.
